First produced during the Risorgimento period for the House of Savoy and perfected by generations of Piemontese winemakers looking to create an elegant wine exuding structure and unique personality, the Nebbiolo produced in the district's eleven villages rank among the world's most famous and sought after wines.

Meet Bovio Winemaker Matteo Franchi Thursday October 30 at Veritas

Enjoy a five course paired wine dinner with these amazing wines from Bovio.

Located near La Morra in the northwestern corner of the zone, Gianfranco Bovio has become one of the area’s top producers. Originally created as a small, 6.5 hectares winery operation to service the family’s famous restaurant, the estate has been carefully renovated and expanded since the 1970s to encompass some 8 hectares and 65,000 bottles. The tiny production is largely split between 2 of La Morra’s top cru sites (Arborina and Gattera), but a newer offering from the famous Parussi cru has also become extremely noteworthy. Interestingly, each of these wines are vinified in a traditional manner, employing large Boti instead of the barriques more common to modern La Morra.

Although many people in Langa have stopped making it, we continue to see dolcetto as a project to believe in, to ensure we don't forget our roots. A tribute to the rural tradition, which takes its name from the hill where it was originally produced.

The name regiaveja indicates the old vines from which this wine is made: these vines are forty years old.

ARBORINA BAROLO 2019

The quintessential La Morra Barolo, first produced in 1985 from grapes from a vineyard planted by Gianfranco Bovio. Elegant and fruity, with soft tannins and a decent structure.

GATTERA BAROLO 2020

This is the first barolo produced by our winery, with grapes from vines that are over 50 years old. Characterised by robust, full-bodied tannins, it boasts a complex bouquet and good longevity.

Paired with:

House Made Pasta with Shellfish, Mushrooms, Tomatoes, Garlic, Calabrian Chili and Lemon

Franciacorta Brut

PARUSSI BAROLO 2019

This structured barolo with excellent ageing potential is made from grapes from the vineyards of castiglione falletto. It has a very characteristic bouquet, with balsamic and spicy notes.

Paired with:

Braised Beef Short Rib, Tomato, Chocolate, Oregano and Polenta
